Liz Whitby, of Artful Coaching , was a great supporter of our competition, and for several years provided creative and career coaching for winning writers. Liz passed away in March 2018 after a long battle with cancer. We will always be grateful for her support to the LGBTIQ community and our writers.
“In 2014 I was honoured to win a place in the Outstanding Short Story Competition and the prize of three sessions with life coach Liz Whitby. Working through my creative and business ideas with Liz was fun and inspiring. She was very compassionate and affirming and she brought a joy to our sessions and allowed me to dream but also to make some of those dreams real. I feel very lucky to have had that time with her.” Madeline Shaw
“I was awarded the immense privilege of receiving three coaching sessions with Liz Whitby as one of the winners of the 2015 Outstanding LGBTIQ Short Story Competition. The three sessions were so inspirational that I continued my coaching with Liz for several more years, only stopping when she became unwell. Liz was gracious, kind, humble, enthusiastic and thoughtful in her approach. I drew enormous strength from her mentorship. She encouraged me to follow the joy of creativity, while embracing my own sense of vulnerability. I am so grateful to her for walking alongside me in those precious years of writing and will always treasure her shared teachings and wholehearted wisdom. Vale, Liz.” Susi Fox
